China becomes a key market for Airbus' determination to win the battle over Boeing, after the European company surpassed its long-term American counterpart in terms of new orders in the past five years.
Airbus received some 1,111 new orders last year, with the price totaling 95.9 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 52 percent of the world market, said Laurence Barron, president of Airbus China.
Entering into China some 15 years later than its competitor, Airbus now has 29 percent of China's market. It may take another seven to eight years for Airbus to surpass Boeing, added Barron.
In 2005, Airbus cooperated with new customers from regional and nongovernmental airlines, such as Shenzhen, Spring and Autumn, Eagle and Hainan Airlines.
