In 2007, the total added value of the industrial sector was 10.7367 trillion yuan, up 13.5 percent over the previous year. The added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size went up 18.5 percent. Of this total, that of the state-owned and state-holding enterprises grew 13.8 percent, that of collective enterprises went up 11.5 percent, that of share-holding enterprises increased 20.6 percent, that of enterprises with overseas investment and investment from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan soared 17.5 percent and that private enterprises jumped 26.7 percent growth. The growth of the light industry was 16.3 percent and that of the heavy industry was 19.6 percent.

In 2007, among industrial enterprises above designated size, the growth of added value of those in the mining and coal washing industry was 18.1 percent over the previous year, that of those engaged in the extraction of petroleum and natural gas was 3.9 percent, that of those in the textile industry was 16.2 percent, that of those engaged in the processing of agricultural and sideline products was 16.9 percent, that of those engaged in the manufacturing of general machinery was 24.2 percent, that of those engaged in the manufacturing of transport equipment was 26.2 percent, that of those engaged in the manufacturing of communication equipment, computers and other electronic equipment was 18 percent and that those engaged in of the manufacturing of electrical machinery and equipment was 21.5 percent. The growth of the added value of six major energy-consuming industries was 18.9 percent, of which, that of the manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products was 24.7 percent, that of the smelting and pressing of ferrous metals was 21.4 percent, that of the manufacturing of raw chemical materials and chemical products was 21 percent, that of the smelting and pressing of non-ferrous metals was 17.8 percent, that of the production and supply of electric power and heat power was 13.8 percent and that of the processing of petroleum, coking and processing of nuclear fuel was 13.4 percent. The growth of added value of the hi-tech industry was 17.8 percent over the previous year.

In the first 11 months of 2007, industrial enterprises above designated size generated a profit of 2.2951 trillion yuan, up 36.7 percent over the same period of the previous year.

In 2007, the added value of construction enterprises was 1.4014 trillion yuan, up 12.6 percent over the previous year. The profits made by construction enterprises qualified for general contracts and specialized contracts reached 147 billion yuan, up 23.2 percent, with their paid taxes totaling 166.1 billion yuan, up 18.5 percent.
